Only a week to go….end of term that is. Thank Jesus x

The short course at Nottingham Trent University is now in it’s third consecutive week, after 3 full days the participants are developing an independent print project, ranging from colour separation, hand drawn cards and wrapping papers to repeat prints for scarves. It’s very rewarding to see the diversity of ideas and individual approaches after two introduction sessions and a follow-up day last Saturday.

I’ve also learnt about new methods of cutting stencils for screen exposures and discovered some new artists to look for. NTU have provided the participants with temporary library cards, which is a welcome bonus for image research and photocopies; plus the Print Shop (near the City Campus tram stop is also open for course participants, great for large and cheaper photocopies onto trace).

There are two Saturday’s remaining for individual and supportive printmaking. Looking forward to seeing the end results and experiments.

Ready to re-work into four colour separations or halftone for silkscreen, possibly a repeat wallpaper or textile print….

Scratching the surface is my new mini-project, I’m not aiming for happy accidents whilst printing, I’m not aiming to produce retro-feel images, I just want to scratch the surface of the artworks beforehand. But, I better get going, as in early September I become a teacher once more…..a hard-working but reluctant one, maybe….

I’m starting with the most recent silkscreen workshop at Leicester Print Workshop, with some really inspiring students (who were a dream to teach). This is the last weekend I’m teaching until September, so it’s time to start realising some of my own plans soon.
